There's an analogous Japanese program called "The Making". The entire series, 300 episodes of 15 minutes each, is available on Japan Science and Technology Agency's (their version of DARPA, minus the black projects) yout

Of course, in a more functional language you could perhaps just write "ary.map( * 2)" Wait, isn't that already possible in Scala? ary.map(2*)

I was looking for a similar solution recently, and came across Stackicons[0], basically icon fonts with multiple color layers, essentially what Microsoft is proposing. But there's a huge flaw with the whole approach: you can't hav

While Cuil failed, it only cost them about $30 million to do most of what Google does. They raised ~$30 million in two rounds, but their valuation was at $200 million by round two. I agree with your point though; the cost to develop a g

I think, however, that you can preceded mandatory terms with a + sign to require it to be present on page. That was my first reaction too, but I tried it out and it still doesn't work. In fact, the result is kinda funny: Googling &

That's actually exactly what I had in mind. Range voting[0], for example, doesn't suffer from Arrow's impossibility theorem, Gibbard–Satterthwaite theorem, nor the Condorcet's paradox. [0] http://en.wikipedia.o

Let's say I like party A 10 times more than I like party B. In a preferential voting system, there's no way to precisely express my preferences using the ticket. I'm forced to choose between "1. A" or "1. A, 2.

If everyone followed the reversed-domain-name naming scheme, then namespaces taken up by abandonwares will get flushed out of the system after a few years. That's a pretty huge "if" though.

Interesting enough, Google chose to build upon the Eclipse java compiler instead of Sun/Oracle's javac. I'm guessing this is due to javac being GPL and the Android SDK being Apache License 2.0. This is strangely reminiscent
