I mean yea, I'm still happy that I can commit locally. With a centralized VCS like Subversion, I wouldn't even be able to do that.

In my university intro econ class, the prof had to spend two full lectures on y=mx+b. As an engineer taking econ as an elective, I was shocked.

Not OP but depending on how much job hopping you’ve done, you need a long stay on your resume so it might not be a great option.

It’s definitely pushed me to buy basics (eg produce, pasta, protein) from Costco and cook at home more. So the silver lining is that I eat healthier, and have discovered that I enjoy cooking.

GPT4 web chat for two hours a day? I buy that. Using the API repeatedly for the same inputs, eg developing a program, and the non-determinism is hard to miss.

To your point, that we haven’t seen widespread examples of prompts that used to work but now don’t, seems telling about the accuracy of claims.

Very impressive. If this was in the middle of a playlist and I wasn't specifically trying to catch the AI-generated track, I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Especially with a remote role, there is no good reason to use your work laptop for personal. Just keep your personal at the same desk.

Maybe you can help me make this more deterministic? I am already setting temp to 0, but i keep getting different responses to the same prompt. https://gist.github.com/derwiki/99079de4cfcb4f196b1ca561b3d7...

We run temp 0 for our prod app and see different results for the same prompt all the time. It’s not every prompt, but the longer ones.

My dad still has a 2001 era Inspiron that he keeps because of Microsoft Works. I am shocked that it still boots! Won’t connect to the internet for some reason, but it did connect to the LAN and WS_FTP helped me move old files to my laptop.
