We've been using overleaf in my lab. In my opinion a much better collaboration platform than word or Google docs, but still has a long way to go. It only very partially solves the LaTeX syntax discoverability problem though.

If it is a large company they have pay bands that limit their flexibility. I would start by negotiating level and research those pay bands. Might be easier to negotiate a one time payment or something that a deviation from their pay structu

shrug 85% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the us border. If you want to go private take a drive. I’ve lived in both countries and will take the security of the Canadian system any day.

pluses and minuses for me. Went on Sertraline (zoloft) for a couple years for anxiety issues. I had some weight gain and sexual side effects, but nothing too unmanageable. Getting on was rough for me with lots of side effects for 6-8 weeks.

yup, back and forth. I was a PM at msft then went to get my phd and did a lot of dev, then into dev mgmt, and now I’m doing some PM work again! I’ve found it all pretty fun, but in different ways.

usually. Depends on how much I care about the article. If it is squarely relevant to my interests, I click to it directly. Otherwise, the HN commentary is often more enlightening (or at least amusing).

Weird as they are, I need a pair! I currently use a face shield respirator helmet when the forest fire smoke gets bad and I still want to be outside working in the garden, so this would be more convenient!

I haven't used it for anything with an exit, but have used it in some hackerspace projects in that may-or-may-not go anywhere stage. I like the approach. Mike Moyer is the author of the book, btw.

This problem has been (albeit imperfectly) addressed in speech recognition. When error corrections are made through the the UI the engine can learn from those corrections. Presumably over time the corrections needed in alphacode will become

nice app! I seem to have gotten myself stuck, though. In weather graphics I opened up day 4 fronts and now I can zoom around on it but there is no way to close it and the rest of the app is blocked! Anyway, just a small bug report. Thanks f
