The cup they show isn't even a cup. It looks more like the top part of a broken bottle, photographed upside down. The narrow end looks too narrow for a cup's base, it would not be very stable.

I listened to the whole video, and the parent understands this better than you do. The video doesn't say that gliders are impossible, period. It says that slowly gliding down, without a heat shield, is impossible. As the parent noted,

Isn't the union-find trickery "just" standard almost-linear unification as discovered by Paterson-Wegman and Martelli-Montanari around 1976? Or is there more to it in the setting of Algorithm J? I'm actually a bit surpri

You could have backed this statement up with a benchmark, and you chose not to. (You are right on the general hand-waving level that such optimizations are sometimes possible. But there are no fuseable intermediate data structures in this p

The nuclear power plant is a Russian talking point. Ukraine is not into nuclear terrorism, not even as quid pro quo. Setting the power plant up as a goal in people's minds just helps Russian propaganda. Ukraine doesn't go there =

The dynamic array spends most of its time copying old elements as it grows exponentially. If you pre-size it to the right size, you eliminate this copying, and the difference becomes 5x. In practice you often have an idea of the size, at le

It's not. If a variable's true value is in the set {1, 2}, then both the set {1} and the set {1, 2, 3} are approximations. But if your abstract interpretation is supposed to pick an approximation, it matters which one it picks. Pi
