Building on the shoulders of giants. Not long ago this smaller form factor battery powered electric robot wouldn't have been possible. The necessary tech for the software is only just starting to work. Post-2024 Atlas is also very impr

Humanoid robotics has been picking up pace the past couple of years. The hardware and the software has gotten much better very recently. Progress is not linear. You can see this in Atlas itself.

This seems very promising, they are matching Qwen3-235B-A22B-Instruct-2507. It should run on 8-12GB vram with 64 gb ram decently well.

You've got to be a bit more specific, those words can all refer to many models.

The requirements for electronics in a car are pretty extreme (temp, durability), not that I disagree, but it's not apples to oranges.

I can see why they'd write it for a specific cheap device. Is this stuff possible with a typical phone modem, though; or does it rely on some special features? Forgive my ignorance. :)

A parking spot that requires an app is certainly onerous, even for a smartphone owner. A good point, but also a parking spot like that which is also not in range of city wifi is pretty rare, I'd reckon.

You can also use wifi. Even free wifi. You can get a very nice used phone with many years of updates for 100 dollars. You can find a worse phone for much less if you really want to. edit: You can even get a free phone from your community. P

Individual pirates are rarely profiting from it. I'd wager most people who think pirating a movie is fine aren't cool with printing 1000 bluerays and hawking them at the flea market.

I agree with your main point on entropy, but "an 1870s-style solar flare would send us back to medieval times" This is not true and it would have no effect on microelectronics.
