Maggi noodles are ubiquitous in India. Two generations of Indian kids have grown up eating them and the ads aggressively targeted kids. In my generation, most Indian origin adults still love it and consider it an occasional indulgence, know

Here's my anecdote. It was really good, as someone who flew pre 9/11. I remember reaching Logan airport 20 minutes before my scheduled flight in 2001 thanks to Boston's traffic. I walked to the gate unimpeded (nothing to chec

Yes. This is misplaced nostalgia. I am biased though - I simply cannot stand the sound of chalk grating against a blackboard.

Couldn't agree more. There seems to be some fundamental human dynamic at play here that I don't fully understand. Teachers and school administrators know exactly who they bullies are, yet they will tolerate and even actively enabl

This is horrifying. What exactly in the manufacturing process could cause such egregious contamination?

This may be due to moderator inaction. I moderate an Apache project mailing list and the amount of spam it receives on on some days is silly. However thanks to the good work done by the ASF infra team it takes very little effort from ML mod

Dumb question - are you saying the employee count sounds too low given the valuation or too high?

I put one (possibly wrong) interpretation in an earlier comment. As for the mother part, in many Hindu traditions monks and voluntary celibates are encouraged to see all women the same as their mothers, to remove temptation. Now he's a

It's almost as incomprehensible as a Zen koan. I think the husband is showing the difference between talking and doing by, well, doing it. A radical way to demonstrate it.

Unfortunately that's not true. It is not easy even for strong programmers to polish up on Leetcode, find a new job, get a written job offer, have the new employer to file for an H1B transfer, and get an acknowledgement from USCIS all w

Hello, I'm not a sycophant, you can check my comment history. In this case I genuinely believe the post was borderline criminal and grossly irresponsible given the situation the world was in on March 20, 2020.

I'm non-white. My friendliest and kindest neighbor is white, an old timer who has been in the same house for over 50 years. His wife bakes cakes for us and they share produce from their vegetable patch. The only other neighbor who talk

I reread this essay once every few months. It is a good reminder that there is no shortcut to being an effective engineering manager. A common mistake many new and seasoned managers make is to delegate and then disconnect from the details.
