IMO if it's not illegal at the moment, apple will add another clause to their next EULA to make it so if project gains any traction. (Similar to the way they prohibit use of OS X on non-apple hardware.)

Important point there seem to be missing from your goroutine description is it's scheduling with respect to system calls -- all interactions with underlying OS is asynchronous in Go even though it looks like a blocking API. E.g. networking

Go is not related to java in any way. It has it's own runtime. Applications are compiled to native binaries on each platform. Is there a separate branch/fork of GWT with Go support? That would be absolutely awesome in fact but it doesn't se

IMO Flask [1] is all about being a library but not a framework. By default it only gives you routes (based on werkzeug), templating (jinja2) and simple sessions. Everything else is available as a plugin. E.g. ORM [2], Forms [3] etc [4]. Doc

CCAN looks really promising. I really wish it would take off. IMO every language should have it's own PyPI/CPAN/Gems implementation. Having dependency management tool for that will also be incredibly useful. (Is there anything like pip for

It should have been named "Comparing Rails with Yesod". Even though other dynamic languages are somewhat similar to ruby, it's hard to say that haskell is just another statically typed language. Inclusion of other languages and frameworks w

I'm a python programmer and this article really makes me interested in Perl. The only problem is that Perl 6 haven't shipped yet in more then 4 years since this article was written, have it?

In python you can mock pretty much anything you want. You can mock package-defined variables by simply modifying them to the value you want (sys.modules['mymodule'].MY_GLOBAL_SWITCH = True). In such a way you can even mock standard library

You can't imagine how annoying is it in python world to use libraries which always provide inconsistent naming scheme. You'll easily find camelCase, snake_case, nocapitalorunderscorecase in any large project. Even though pep8 exists, neithe

Some of your points are not really fair: Go does have exceptions under a different name called "panic". It's named differently to communicate why they were added to the language (read docs for details) and their expected use-case. Go does h

Java's top priority is to never, ever break anything. It has to be both binary and source compatible. That's a major reason why generics in Java are so broken. They couldn't change syntax to make it nicer and they couldn't substantially cha
