What if it’s a little earthquake? It will make you think twice about building your home on a bad foundation. I think the issue here, other than earthquakes being potentially very deadly, which makes this comparison a little absurd, is that

I’m aware of your sarcasm but will reply at face value: 1) If your business depends on Internet access you shouldn’t pay for a residential plan. You need an SLA. 2) Natural disasters happen. Not having emergency drinking water is very naï

How does QUIC work together with µTP/LEDBAT? Also is there any plan to implement this type of congestion control in QUIC? Would it make sense? It could certainly be useful for background synchronization in PWAs.

I suppose at gigabit the pi might have some issues. Unfortunately, I don’t have this problem. I doubt Goldmont would break any sweat though. If you don’t want to jump all the way to Intel there’s always this: http://espressobin.n

For 100 MBit/s firewall all you need is Raspberry PI. Most people’s WAN connection is probably less than that. And if you need gigabit then there’s still plenty of options, anything from ODROID-C to 10W Goldmont, the latter a little ex

I would not recommend Namecoin. Ethereum’s DNS contract is much better in every way.

It’s perfectly suited for a name directory however. In fact it would be faster because every resolver would have the global view of the entire name space. Anyway, DNS propagation is not exactly instant, either; so it’s not like you can make

There are many ways to do that are more efficient, less intrusive and provide for better UX than Cloudflare’s gatekeeper approach. However no one forced website owners to use Cloudflare, so it doesn’t matter. > Someone has to protect the

That’s the problem with anthropomorphising companies. As far as I can tell Cloudflare single-handedly destroyed the usability of Tor Browser. It was just getting pretty fast when Cloudflare put literally half the Internet behind a spywall.

The 17% faster clock is the point. No one wants their computer to be 17% slower because sometimes they also want a lot of threads. In server terms it’s sort of like latency vs throughput.

Alright, you might not appreciate it, but it’s not a waste of money. Maybe that’s arguing semantics, but to me a waste of money is something like a $150 HDMI cable… Or 64GB of RAM you’ll never use. Things that you can brag about but that do

You don’t need a GTX 1080. Any modern low-end GPU like RX 550, GTX 1030 or the new Ryzen APU would be fine. Even higher-end Intel iGPUs should work[1]. Basically all you need is at least DisplayPort 1.2 (or 1.2a if you want Freesync) for 4K
