What city do you live in? All I have to do is go outside and flag down the multitudes of cabs waiting to pick somebody up.

Where are you seeing "narcissist" reflected in the comments here? I'm seeing, "ulterior motive". And yes, I think most HN'ers wouldn't hesitate to call Zuck out on that. I know I would.

Perhaps there needs to be more studies done on the effect of gravity and human health? Conversely, are there other things in our air (pollutants) that are in fact causing slower aging when on Earth?

This makes me a bit nostalgic for those days when "computers" was a brand new world, instead of trying to figure out what the next "big thing" is going to be. It makes me cringe when I see somebody grab their friend'

I was not aware that TrueCar was a buying service. I'm looking for a new vehicle myself and just checked them out. Thanks for the tip!

That's the problem I have with many of these articles, the journalists try to make use of their philosophy degrees and make nothing into something.

We are still far away from having computer's truly be able to learn on their own, without having a human optimizing the responses.

It's people like you who are telling the US government that it's ok to surveillance citizens. With your logic, you are saying you have no reason to hide anything, so the government can keep tabs on you. Just because you have nothi

Typical fluff piece. Let's face it, bouldering (setting) is pretty boring, the writer has to make it seem "more exciting" than it actually is.

So content creators should use PayPal then for donations? That's also a centralized service. How do you propose a transaction takes place without a service to process the details?

Here's an example of the "political correct police" - Twitter shaming. Somebody says something satirical and they are assigned a "label". This was the case with Justine Sacco. Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock refuse to

Hacker News is full of bully lurkers? I personally despise those who ridicule instead of working with a dev who does not happen to grasp the error of his or her ways.

I agree. I once worked for a large software company that had a lead dev who relished calling people out and belittling them in front of the other devs. Long story short, turnover rate was quite high for that business unit.

I love that the author is criticizing Twitter's UI, yet when I tried to find a date of the article, I had to mysteriously hover over the title of the post to see it magically appear before me.

That's the problem with critics, they get paid to analyze things. Sometimes things don't really need to be analyzed, just taken at face value.

I don't know why, but this was extremely satisfying. At least the graffiti artist got the owner (presumably the municipality) to beautify the building. Win-win?

To be honest, it's a win-win no matter how you look at it. Apple wins, Taylor Swift wins, musicians win. To me, I look at this as an example of how Apple does understand public perception and is a master at making themselves look good

All holograms only have 2 dimensions. They "trick" us into thinking the image you are seeing in the hologram has 3 dimensions. The idea behind the Universe being a hologram is that everything exists in flat space; however, it appe
