So that this doesn't happen again is exactly why the defacto use of .lan should be codified in an RFC. .local was never reserved for private use, and it got scooped up for mdns. .dev was never reserved for private use, it got gTLD'

Why shouldn't we have a short TLD reserved for private use, non-delegated, for $0/year? .lan is short and convenient, there is no good case for using it in any other context. .lan is used defacto as a private TLD. ICANN should ref

Sounds like the system worked as intended, you reached out to the telco regulator and the issue was resolved in 3 days. Also sounds like it isn't specifically an esim problem, but an AT&T being a shit company that tries to get away

Can anyone actually cite a case of anti-lockin regulations being subverted because someone was using an esim instead of a physical sim? Not saying it doesn't happen but I'd be pretty surprised if a court suddenly said lockin is ok

Given a gap in the market I don't see why Mitsubishi or Bombardier couldn't fill that gap. Bombardier only sold their airliner capability due to Boeing/US trade fuckery. Mitsubishi can make fighter jets, rockets and warships

Not being a US citizen, I don't have much sympathy. If the US degrades its strategic military capability by playing capitalist race-to-the-bottom sillybuggers, that's their lookout.

You know there are other aircraft manufacturers right? Embraer, Bombardier, Mitsubishi etc. Sure they can't just spin up a fully working airliner production line tomorrow, but Boeing going away isn't an apocalypse level event.

Doesn't seem very fair or consistent with how we balance individual freedom vs societal costs of other recreational drugs.

Cannabis is an emotive topic around here.

Ok then. If we take the hypothesis at face value, what is to be done about it? Prohibition obviously isn't a solution as that's the status quo - it's already illegal for teens to buy and consume cannabis.

No mention that this is just the preload list and isn't really required. HSTS normally operates by a trust on first use model, where a header returned first time you access a server and this tells your browser add the domain to its int

Using firefox I get "instant" youtube. The video starts playing before most of the rest of the UI has loaded even, definitely under 1 second. Any idea what specifically causes it to happen, rather than just "firefox"?

Poorly compressed files is usually the problem, and when lossless files are relatively low burden (what's a few gb between friends. I'm not storing them on my 64gb ipod anymore), i'd rather just have the lossless ones.

Good thing I rarely enter more than a few digits :) Having a "tenkeyless" means my mouse position is aligned with my shoulder, with a full width keyboard my arm would be rotated constantly, leading to pain.

Interesting. M1 Pro Macbook Pro (14" 2021) w/ Firefox, massive lag - to the point rotating the view is unbearable. For the dev, FF 117.0.1 on macos 13.4.

Lower rotational inertia is definitely a downside, it is absolutely a downgrade in the critical fidget-spinning-your-phone experience.
