Feeling potential for a new buzzword-methodology in this. It's common sense, but not so common that you can't charge for workshops/talks/certifications. The only thing you need now is a good, substantial name that evokes a mechanical and e

37 Signals is the perfect example of how you don't have to be a static mass of grey goo in order to work on something else than mobisocialfotogames (as patio11 puts it). I believe there is a rising confidence in the corporate world about th

Also as a college student, I think that the hole "geek" stuff should be dropped. We need to aspire to be engineers, scientists, businessman, artists, makers... not "geeks".

True, I didn't mean that to say they were, but only to clarify that what's considered computer _science_ problems, sound more like engineering ones.

You are assuming that most people follow their passion, disregarding the economic aspect. PS: what about the smart and passionate people interested in cs that choose another career because of the perceived social and economic status?

Good analogy, but then developers are more mechanics than drivers. You can use your cool and deep automotive engineering knowledge to "do mechanics", but most of the time is not efficient cost/benefit wise. Most of the time it's more import
