Those are down to backlight technology, which (usually) is independent of the LCD panel itself. With LCDs, though, it's a fine line as extremely bright backlights can lead to bad bloom.

Yes. That MSI monitor was unveiled at CES 2026, alongside several other monitors that use the same panel, such as the LG 27GM950-B.

I would similarly criticise a race car being used to do a city bus' job of getting a lot of people from point A to B. Although the converse would be interesting, racing city buses.

Very cool, but can I suggest the `add` CPU instruction instead? Supports 64-bit numbers, and it's encoded in hardware, and no need to cross a PCIe interface into a beefy, power-hungry GPU and back again. And chances are it's cross

Indeed. Anything documented has a function wrapper. `NtCreateFile` is a function wrapper for the syscall number, so any user-mode code that has `NtCreateFile` instead of directly loading the syscall number 0x55 will be stable. The latter mi

'MinGW' is not GCC; it's an ABI, and from the developer perspective it is also the headers and the libraries. You can have GCC MinGW, Clang MinGW, Rust MinGW, Zig MinGW, C# AOT MinGW. To answer your question, the headers.

There are some pretty useful abstractions and libraries that MinGW doesn't work with. Biggest example is the WIL[1], which Windows kernel programmers use and is a massive improvement in ergonomics and safety when writing native Windows
