"...has to wait for everyone alive to die..." Certainly not. It's all based on the purchase/exercise/offering date. Let's take it to the extreme: if homicide had been legal, and society decided we needed to out

I think you've misunderstood me. I've reworded to help. I did not intend to imply that I thought such a clause made the law retroactive. I'm saying that by default, laws should not be retroactive and that needing a clause to

New laws shouldn't, in general, be retroactive. The fact that a grandfather clause is necessary to specify that a law isn't intended to be retroactive is bothersome.

Have you seen an ATM? They're running Windows & SQL Server now. Microsoft isn't offering 35yr support contracts for Windows. This is only partially sarcastic.

I would argue that's not "...back to the US economy."

If you mean "back into the US," then indeed there is the potential to continue sitting on that money and maybe it won't enter the US economy. If, however, you do mean to ask "...back into the US economy," then ...

You've got to drop actual technical data on them. Are you seeing complete routes to some destinations and not others? Do the incomplete routes stop inside Comcast's network?

I think your questions revolve around the rest of us having separate brains and these brains having developed in ways unique to each of us. Theirs is intertwined to the point that it's one big brain. Perhaps each girl's own part h

GP still makes a good point. Righthaven is a good example of where attacks on fair use lead. Sure, we don't know about this case, but odds are good that it involves fair use. And even if not, GP's point is still relevant.

>The rights for the movie have already been secured. From whom? This kind of thing really irks me. I hope no one is paying this ... person for the "rights" to tell his story.

Creating objects in “empty” states is lazy programming. The point of references is to guarantee an object exists. But don’t pretend an object exists just to satisfy the reference. Rethink your code to take advantage of the guarantee.

Messages to nil ... sure, OK, fine. Allow that, but CRASH because someone sent an unhandled message? That’s just mean. Either crash when messaging nil, or don’t crash when improperly messaging an object.

Our local trains have cars that can lean a bit on their own. Bank the track a bit, lean the car as needed, the humans on board don't recognize a turn unless they're watching intently out the window.

Why not just have the flexibility of adding markdown whenever you feel like it (and not when you don't)? Now, you've got a file a markdown renderer can render whether or not you used markdown.

After some thought (and before I read your comment), I am indeed mistaken. Take the long/lat mapping we put onto Earth - it contains trapezoids. However, the sections on a torus are not always parallelograms. Take your donut and lay it
