It seems redundant to have two different regulatory systems for slightly different kinds of speculation.

Collateral is not uncommon in gambling (e.g. pink slips). That does not seem to distinguish gambling from speculating.

Thanks, that's so odd that I assumed it was about efficiency, which is how I treat tokens. It's hard to imagine a 19th century business man ordering his staff to send as many long winded telegrams as they can.

Yes, I agree with Friedman that excavators are better than spoons. Could you explain why that implies that I'm a baby who opposes all labor protections?

I am far lower-value capital for tasks like digging ditches, moving things from point to point and proof reading documents than available non-human capital. Now non-human capital out performs me on many more tasks than a few years ago. I do

Ditch digging is a crap paying job that most people hate, they just need it for food and stuff. After the mechanical resource arrived, I didn't need the other nine guys and just let them go, since I didn't suddenly get 10x the bus

If I replace a crew of ten ditch diggers with one guy and an excavator, I have replaced lower-value human capital with higher-value mechanical capital for that task. Does the replacement enrage you in that case, or just the phrasing? Should

Reminds me of the results of a large Slavic country going to war with a much smaller, once subordinate, now independent republic that was the source of their best engineers.

I'm living in a New Mexico forest that is full of dead pinyon pine trees after a beetle blight caused by a long term drought. The wildfire danger is extreme. A super El Nino would be an answer to our prayers. I wouldn't choose it
