Heroku gave us an example of how to do it right: http://blog.heroku.com/archives/2009/1/12/whats_up_at_heroku... In short: keep both versions.

Fender is a brand of musical equipment and also another word for the bumper of a car. A straight relation between "fender" and "music" is a trivial expansion but it can become complex very quickly. You can expand from "fender" as a keyword

I use the term lookup engine because it alludes to something more complex than, as timf put it, a glorified hashtable.

Search engine library is better, ya. However, creating the search engine is the hard problem. It helps to have tools to make some of the outlying problems a bit easier, but the challenge is being able to calculate a configurable set of mult

The scoring in Whoosh is used only for sorting the result set. It's not used in determining the records within that set which is the primary reason why I refer to it as a lookup engine.

I wrote hardware reviews years ago. Describing something as "solid" is straight out of the standard playbook. It sounds vaguely positive but it's devoid of meaning.

The user makes the same submissions at reddit: http://www.reddit.com/user/ccraigIW/ The titles are slightly different so it's either a human or some powerful AI. mtw is right. It's most likely an IW employee (note the username).

I'm not aware of a browser that ignores URI parameters. Moving to a CDN does not force you to put versioning in the path or filename. The URI parameter merely tricks the browser into thinking there is a new file. The parameter itself is oth

What do you mean by real versioning? The major advantage to using "script.js?v={timestamp}" is that it maintains a consistent URI for the resource. Whereas with "script_{timestamp}.js", everything that points to it needs to be updated every

Ya, those are fair questions. I don't have the information to answer them objectively since I'm just a dirt farmer from Alabama but noonespecial explains it pretty well.

There was also Air Transat flight 236 that landed in the Azores: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Transat_Flight_236 Do you remember what air line was involved in the South American incident?
