i used to have one of those "hdmi over ethernet" devices which i captured with ffmpeg and used for his purpose. worked well, about 100ms latency for the capture/conversion

Something I also want to investigate -- CPU is at 100% on 1 core for 5~ seconds when launching anything. Not even waiting for IO, it's mostly user time

try jobs in netherlands/amsterdam. they don't require dutch, most people here (>90%?) speak very good english. just find a job that does visa sponsorship (a lot do). good luck.

I have one of these. While the device is great, be advised that if you upgrade your kernel you'll most likely hit a cpu bug. The only way to avoid this is by limiting cpu freq at 600mhz.
