That blog post is no longer accurate. We don't count LOC for language popularity, we count the number of non-fork projects that include a language. If your project includes both Ruby and Perl, Ruby and Perl each get a +1.

The Fork Queue is a replacement for email patch management, not a merge tool. It is for cherry picking changes from contributors, not merging branches. This is why the author information is retained and --signoff is used. As Hongli Lai says

If you're building apps with Cocoa, it's very easy to embed and drive WebKit.

God doesn't actually work. We used god on FamSpam, currently use it on GitHub, and I've heard at least two massive Facebook apps (Friends for Sale and Rock Legends) use it to manage a large number of processes across a large number of ser

Where are you located? Most git pages (e.g. http://github.com/rails/rails/tree/master or http://github.com/rails/rails/commits/master ) should load fast. That said, we're still working hard to optimize and speed-up every aspect of the si

Ian Macdonald puts it well: Unlike in some other communities, there is no contention in the Ruby community over whether to use two, four or eight spaces. Everyone is happy to use just two. Furthermore, never use tabs, which includes the pr

Does that make every multi-threaded network daemon that manages a thread pool of connections a 'half-assed implementation of EventMachine' then? (I know who Tony is. I co-wrote Evented Starling.)

As I perhaps somewhat self-aggrandizingly consider myself one of the most knowledgable people regarding I/O in the Ruby world, I decided to peek around the Starling source and see what I discovered. What I found was a half-assed and pathet
