Understanding and using a grid as well as the golden ratio are not tricks. If you think they are your just don't understand why designers, artists, photographers, etc. use such techniques. What is more, just because the author here doesn

This is shameful behavior by PayPal. There is no doubt about it. If everyone with a PayPal account who cares about the unlawful, unjust treatment of Bradley Manning would simply delete their PayPal account and clearly state the reasons why

This is a really good read. It is fascinating to see how cleverly designed and engineered Rubinius is. I've been following it from early on, and they have made tremendous strides. The new 1.2.1 is a fun to use, solid Ruby implementation.

681 lines? The HTML5 Boilerplate that I grabbed from Paul Irish's website, the commented version, is 94 lines. And much of the stuff can be removed. I have my own HTML5 boilerplate as a TextMate snippet, but augment it. One thing about th

The "Grade A" browser ratings are only slightly more meaningful than the "Modern Browser" label. And IE fans (apologists?) can rationalize from now until Sunday, but web developers who project after project are forced to write CSS Hacks, c

You obviously didn't read the article. The SEC didn't just turn it's back on insider trading. And that is not the only "crimes" here that Taibbi catalogues by the AIG, Goldman Sachs, Bear Sterns, Citigroup, Fanny Mae. There was widesprea

From the article: "In other words, you now have one less reason to fire up your bloated copy of Adobe Acrobat." Using OSX's Preview PDF reader, I haven't used Adobe Acrobat for years. Preview is fast-loading, and has all the features one c

While not a Lisp OS, StumWM http://www.nongnu.org/stumpwm/index.html is an interesting project. I run it on Debian, and I like to pretend I using a Lisp Machine.

Their website is excellent. The recently acquired leaked documents, The Palestinian Papers, are fascinating reading. http://english.aljazeera.net/palestinepapers/2011/01/2011122... And I just saw an interview with PJ Crowley about Egypt.

Thanks for converting those to PDF, unfortunately none of the hyperlinks work either in browser, or in a PDF reader like OS X's preview. Don't know about Windows or Linux.

Emacs won't run? Then why would I want to use it? What about all my Lisp code? And why on earth do I want to give Google so much control of my OS? And full control of my laptop? Maybe I should just give bots from outer space full control

That is really great. As a musician, and a programmer, I would like to how you would make that. Seems like you would go through a ton of Mobius strips getting the arrangement just right.

Difficult to empathize as the subtitle of srunchup.com excludes anyone not considered "young". Why not "A Web Magazine for Designers and Developers"? Or are their specific aspects of web development that only pertain to people under 25?
