That analogy breaks down though. JavaScript is just as much of a high-level language as most of the things that are compiling to it. Most of the time the reason people don't just write in JavaScript is because they don't like it's _style_,

The only thing I pirate anymore is Windows XP. It lives in a VM and only gets run for browser testing. Everything else is Free Software.

It entirely depends on the project. If your making a rich web application I think it's entirely justifiable to require ff, chrome, safari, opera, or IE9 (or earlier, with chrome tab).

To remove ambiguity, you could say months should be represented by December, days by the 31st, weeks by Friday, and so on. In that way it would be easy to implement and easy to write to. Then the case of "01-01-01" becomes "31-12-99", for

One can write good looking apps for Android. It's just not as easy as it is for iPhone. Having done both myself: on iPhone you can just throw together a bunch of default widgets to get the job done and your app will look pretty good. Doing

I've actually been toying with doing this rather then email verification and a captcha for a social site. Would you find this more or less annoying then an email loop and a captcha?

Hmm, can this be used for only javascript? As in, I write my own html but use pyjamas to generate my js (which can manipulate the dom of my html). I'm down with abstracting javascript (good riddance), but I like to be picky about html.
