I don't think your experience has anything to do with my experience. That fact that on your hardware you felt html 5 video works better has no bearing on whether it work for me, on my hardware. The fact that somebody down-voted me for

I think many would agree with me when I say, Windows 8 was at least part, if not the biggest part of the problem . Nobody wants to relearn a UI just because MS wants to create a bridge into windows phone. The fact is the UI changes did not

Ah, but you forget. An apple super carrier would be extremely user friendly. It could probably be crewed with 10 hipsters and a few Apple geniuses.

I've had a pretty poor experience with HTML 5 video. It stutters far more than flash and in particular it does very weird things when I try to skip around in videos. I'll miss flash.

I fail to see what sugar mills have to do with the absolute idiocy of corn based ethanol. I would also be interested in the ratio of sugar mills that actually power themselves versus those that just run off the grid.

You know what, upon pondering it further and reading your rather excellent case-in-point from your last post, you have totally convinced me. Fuck subsidies. I believe solar/Nuclear/fusion(heh) will rule the future with or without

Well I should qualify my statements. I think R&D and one time installation tax credits are great and work. I totally and completely disdain feed-in tariffs. Solar should be able to walk on it's own, but I think it's reasonable

It's actually a misconception that solar power is only competitive with subsidies. In the past, it has absolutely been true, but today solar power can really stand on it's own two legs in terms of LCOE(basically the metric that gi

Really, there are probably two elements to this: 1. Your posts could perhaps be a bit more thought out or inspiring. 2. You have correctly noticed that down-vote etiquette here is quite bad. People frequently down-vote posts that are constr

I was mainly speaking to the anti-aircraft weapon's addition shrapnel, rather than the drone itself. It's pretty hard to shoot down a drone without, ah, having the drone fall down. You can try some sort of hack, or radio blackout,

Yep, that sounds about right. Between bitcoin, an anonymous brokerage such as silk road, and drone delivery, the dealers would be pretty hard to track down.

Seems like a pretty good use case for lasers as you can generally hit only what your aiming out, and you don't have any explosive and/or metal shrapnel falling back down into populated areas.

The last thing that AGI needs is more philosophical thinking. Philosophy and the Turing Test have done enough damage to the field. Philosophers can not seem to comprehend how a mass of meat can create consciousness and take leaps to try to
