Not for "anything", judge would dismiss a case if they don't see a way it could win in trial. Defendant can file a "motion to dismiss".

No, attack on _forces_ (army, national guard, police etc) will not be recognized terrorism, most likely. Those forces are assumed to not get afraid. Of course, I can imagine something like that that might be considered terrorism, but it

You probably meant "insurrection" instead of "terrorism". Terrorism is trying to achieve some goals by means of terror. E.g. separatism (like Texan or Californian) can be named insurrection.

As a person from an authoritarian country, I should say that firearms mean much less than coordination. Organized group of 100 with no guns is stronger than 10000 armed but poorly coordinated people. In other words, a "well regulated M

It's not just wrong, if a company is registered as "commercial" (as opposed to non-profit or public-benefit), then "for the money" is a legal obligation. Shareholders can literally sue the management if they don

There's no such thing as "moral" in nature, that's purely human-made concept. And why would we only limit morality to sentient beings, why, for example, not all living beings. Like bacteria and viruses. You cannot escape

Please don't. Please assume I'm smarter than I actually am -- I will figure it out no problems. I like complex interfaces that allow me to do my task faster, especially if I'm using it often (e.g. for work).

Git server is just a directory. It may or may not have actual content files in it (aka bare). In fact, any git clone of any repository is also a server on its own (and clients can have multiple "remote"s to pull from).

That would work in any base, I even think we would find way more interesting coincidences in base 12 (as Sumerians preferred), because it's divisible by 2,3,4,6. It's unfortunate that we have 5 fingers.

Yea, but then every time I open your blog, all the middle-men receive some metadata about my device/browser/language etc, that helps to fingerprint my activity online.

Nowadays it's actually hard to not connect anything to internet. Better (and easier) to assume it's connected.

I play (and work) exclusively on Linux for 17 years -- most games run fine, yes, except for competitive ones (Rust, League of Legends etc), because they require kernel-level backdoors to spy on the OS kernel-level cheats.

Wow, I needed to parse just one small ASN.1 with one value (one signature), but I didn't know ASN.1 can have a specification (to generate parser from it). So I ended up untangling it myself, just for that specific 256 bits. Still I thi

I'd say way more damage occurs when people neglect warnings and errors. Like literally IDE not just highlights, it underscores a problem in red/yellow, puts a marker on the left of line, and on the right at the scrollbar as well.

I wish. I'm a business owner, no one gives a thought about my hours. Or my income for that matter -- just make 100% sure paid all the salaries, taxes, insurances -- if I come up negative, well, sucks to be me then, dude.

I tried to do that, and ended up sitting at home watching TV eating chips. At the end of the day I felt way more tense and unsatisfied than whole day of working and worrying. Even "enduring" a jog or a gym gives more satisfaction.

Yes, but if you are one of Uber/Lyft drivers you're less likely to receive anything from reporting them than if you're one of only 5 mechanics in an auto shop. Auto shop owner does not have an army of lawyers to drag the case

Then autoshops are exposed to the risk that mechanics report/sue them for "employee misclassification" and unpaid wages. Employers are better always pay at least minimum wage, even for 1099s, otherwise more incentive for work

Well, if mechanic is present on the workplace all day, they must get paid at least a minimum wage per day, regardless of any estimates or even if there's any work at all. It's employer's problem, employer never wants to pay w

But reducing the number of admissions is not going to fix it, it will only exacerbate it. If we increase number of admissions, then long-term doctors should become less overworked. That's a path to fix it.
