In my formal education days, I was perma-frustrated that none of my teachers had achieved anything impressive with their work (apart from being published), and I often felt like I was being handed out second-hand knowledge to regurgitate du

I would say they can be called PoS because that's the nature of the consensus algorithm used... but it's not in a "go live" production stage atm.

Since I recently developed an infatuation with nodejs (after 20 years of hating on js), would you mind sharing the "date as text" requirement? It should be trivial to compose with a string literal if the builtin toLocaleDateString

There are testnest live for some time now but there is still plenty to do before anyone should trust their funds into the staking contracts. edit: I mean, several dPoS networks went live without spending enough time considering the game the

I'm not in it for the audience.. in any case, maximalism is mostly a self-assigned title and the author of that blog describes himself as such edit: how can something that is being discovered be late? The work on PoS is almost complete

If you can define "pure" in terms of how it relates to energy consumption, I can try. The one PoS system I'm (edit: deeply) familiar with is Ethereum 2.0's, I wrote about it a couple of years back: https://med

That's cryptoeconomics in a nutshell, mechanism design and decentralised governance. I curate a popular resource on this here: https://github.com/jpantunes/awesome-cryptoeconomics

That's not even close to being correct, and blogs from maximalists are never a good source of correct information. Happy to walk you through what PoS looks like in 2020, but you can look up the information yourself too.

I don't think being different is a flaw, but people are drawn towards the familiar and what I'm pointing at is that this is the reason why gaining real traction beyond the dev community is so hard.

I humbly suggest that you have just pointed out the major flaw for federated social networks and decentralised platforms in general: they do not serve the same purpose of Twitter, Facebook and the like. Users come to these popular platforms

I'm a big fan of Brave! Not only do I have a mostly ad-free web experience but it also saves me bandwidth and time. 22 hours saved in one year to be precise.

In my own experience, hiring for VP and senior management roles tends to happen within the (closed) circuits of the current business leads / board members specially for small and medium sized companies.

In terms of access time, the standard would be O(1) for hashtables which would be my best guess at how to best represent an ip to domain mapping. Reading from on chain data is done locally (if you have your own node) and is near instant, bu

You are making an assumption about how blockchains work. Do you think the linked-list like structure of how blocks are added to the chain is how data is stored and retrieved? For reference: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/B

The total number of coins in a chain is deterministic. If using a UTXO model, then it's the number of unspent outputs that are linked to your private key, if using the account model, then there is an on-chain state that holds your bala
