This happens often in comment threads, one comment uses an uncommon word and the entire thread goes along with it.

By "static analysis" you mean unsound, best-effort analyzers which try to study code as-is, rarely allow extra annotations, and tolerate false negatives and even positives by design. While these are a huge improvement over no extr

I consider code written in Frama-C as a verifiable C dialect, like SPARK is to Ada, rather than C proper. I find it funny how standard C is an undefined-behaviour minefield with few redeeming qualities, but it gets some of the best formal v

How can anyone be this interested in maintaining an annex k implementation when it's widely regarded as a design failure, specially the global constraint handler. There's a reason why most C toolchains don't support it. http

About .kkrieger's trimming, I had only heard that they forgot to press up on the main menu so it doesn't work, not about the damage thing.

And part of the Corp's profits fund the Foundation, not the other way around. We get a discussion about this every few months in the HN comments, in case anyone wants to look it up.

The author probably doesn't care. To be clear I don't think the author's point on updates is such a good idea and that's an example of why, but I understand they require a level of trust on the developer that many, many

Did you mix up unsigned and signed by mistake? Because in C and C++, the wrapping one is unsigned and the here-be-dragons-on-overflow one is signed.

The article kinda covers that already: > If I need an update, I will know it: I’ll encounter a bug or a lack of functionality. Then I’ll go and update.

I largely agree, that's why I've still got all of it stored away, but I guess I'd like to keep track of what is it that I'm not using, what can I delete and what can I deduplicate.

Brevity maybe, but ease of understanding no. Copyleft licenses interact with copyright law in ways that permissive licences just don't need to. The closest you can get is probably MPL-2.0. The GPL is particularly bad here as it preten

Supporting as in maintenance mode, at least VB.NET. Thankfully F# is more community driven, but the CLR ecosystem is definitely getting C#-centric in the use of idioms and features from newer C# versions, which increasingly affects F# inter
