Maybe Todd was trying to just ship the dang thing to satisfy Zenimax. Build the games-as-service sandbox, let it fail, parent company head honchos leave you alone and your teams get to go back to working on the kind of games they actually w

Same issue with power here on my 9570! In fact I just checked after one month of plugged-in non-use, turning it on resulted in dead battery in < 3 minutes. What's crazy is that if I let it charge now, I will get 3 solid hours of bat

Social stress gave me a case of the shingles once in my twenties. It didn't make much sense to me at the time, but for some reason being stressed out about buying a bunch of Christmas gifts late in the season caused it to happen!

You think you're going to get discovery to even prove this? Plausible deniability and even just ignorance will likely cause you to get nowhere with wiping this collected data.

Their internal payment system is so terrible it won't even work with smaller banks. The verification system just fails with an unhelpful error message. Customer service's approach to fixing this is to submit a ticket to engineerin

DTS needs to work that Sony relationship and convince them to convert their surround format to DTS:X. Maybe even allow it for free just to keep their format alive. The current PS5 3D-audio solution is good only for headphones. They have a &

Looks like what I've always wished for in sheets, more in line with what programmers would like to work with rather than AirTable and SmartSheets. Wish there were some way to take it for a spin without having to "Request Access&qu

I distinctly remember the QuickTime uninstaller had a checkmark option for “full uninstall” or similar that nuked my sound driver on Windows XP. Probably caused some missing DLL for the Sound Blaster card. The only way my high school self c

The problem is that without annotations, injecting behavior or doing any sort of metaprogramming is nigh impossible. Higher-order functions aren't fun to deal with in Java, even in the post-Java-8 world.

This seems like it would only work with with an external enclosure setup. I wonder if a test could be performed in the usual NVMe slot. Of course, it seems it would be much harder to pull main power for the entire PC. I'm not sure how

Spring Boot apps aren't affected by this unless you switched logging frameworks. Nor any JBoss frameworks. How many people actually use Log4j2? It's probably in 4th or 5th place among Java logging frameworks, and likely still has

A nightmare in Node world perhaps (our latest simple web server has over 2,000 dependencies). In the Java world it’s much simpler with a few excludes in your POM. Especially for libraries that keep stable interfaces, such as a logging libra

Thank goodness Spring Boot has stuck with Logback for its default logging implementation. While the original Log4j had huge uptake a decade ago, its successor is nowhere near as ubiquitous.

I believe all US debts to private creditors can be settled in dollars. Any debtor can take a creditor to court if the creditor tries to demand payment in other forms.

Been true of Java for decades. Most application programmers aren't churning out highly tuned C++, and their design is easily outperformed with a bump allocator and generational GC.

I believe Timescale has a similar issue if you’ve enabled compression (and it’s usually too expensive not to). Perhaps the main reason we’re sticking with Influx for the moment.
