I don’t believe lots of companies can deliver what Tesla offers, or if so, have the ethics of not delivering for the sake of saving lives. If anything, history showed that most car companies ethics is very questionable when competition is f

There is a few companies releasing PR announcing they’ve achieved level 3 and 4 but I don’t feel like I’ve seen any on the street (or maybe they are hard to spot?). I’ve been in a few Tesla and they drive themselves quite well (I’m not an e

“Best practices are non-negotiable” In my experience (over 20 years) rules are meant to be broken. You can’t have a set of meaningful rules that can’t be misfits in some cases. “Write unit-tests!” - on a shell script? - for my playbook? - o

I understand all the things you're talking about, and I agree, you can block the main thread (and elixir does not use the OS processes so it's awesome...). I do disagree with the take on await/async but that's a differen

It’s really hard to read such posts. The tool is only as good as the contributor, that’s all there is. Great things were built in all languages and frameworks. For god sakes, stop blaming the tool by doing naive comparisons with other langu

I would caution against such statement “this is just shopping”. Social media also used to be underestimated in the damage they can do. Privacy information brokers are like an Hydra, you cut one head, 3 new ones grow... and before you know i

"Monolith vs Micro-services?" is philosophy at this point. It's a good brain exercise, a great starter for debate, it reveals a lot of insights... all because there is no actual answer.

Thank you for the clarification abd12, you are right. I only create LSI if I know for sure the data within a given shard will not go beyond 10GB... since we never really do we always go with GSI.

There is a lot more you should learn about DynamoDB but I appreciate the effort of the author. Please read the AWS documentation, it's not that big and explains vital things that just aren't in this article. Very important things

We used to do that but dynamodb being very dynamic (which we like) makes it harder to use a declarative schema. ES auto detect the schema which makes it a breeze. I’d say try with JSON fields but I don’t think you’ll get great query speed

Where I work we use micro-services through lambda (we have dozens of them) and use DynamoDB for our tables. DynamoDB streams are piped through elasticsearch. We use it for our business intelligence. Took us about a week to setup proper repl
