I pursued this a little further out of curiosity and found the inventor's CV: [0] He had a publication on there belonging to "9th NATO Military Sensing Symposium, 2017" from which papers/presentations are made public: [1

I was looking for the deep learning. But there is none in the patent and I don't think there is any in the process. "Method 100 automatically processes FMV data for delivering rapid two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D

I think you know that lambda_i(M_j) is the ith eigenvalue of M_j. Order them how you like it won't change the identity.

Interesting comment that there is evidence for the translators working independently. A curious fact is that in 1610 Shakespeare was 46, and in Psalm 46 you will find 46th word from the beginning put together with the 46th word from the end

What riches are there to be found in space and brought back to earth to sell for economic gain? I thought space flight is too expensive and unobtanium is yet to be discovered?

What is really interesting is that the main innovation is never mentioned in the BBC article. The academic they quote, Dave Cowley, is an author on "Using deep neural networks on airborne laser scanning data: Results from a case study

IMO people should be discouraged from getting PhDs so that the only PhDs are the ones who do it out of internal drive and craziness. #keepPhDsWeird It isn't logical to get a PhD. The worth of your PhD will be determined by how much you

Very nice that dang and sctb were involved in such a timely and solid startup idea! If they were luckier, they could have been bought by Google sheets, which acquired XL2Web, DocVerse, Quickoffice in their improvements 2006-2012: https:&#x

I was surprised, but I guess everything is working near optimally. 1 Billion 32 bit numbers in 347 ms is 23 G Bytes/s. In 40ms is 200 G Bytes/s. DDR4 is 26 G Bytes per second. And Nvidia GPUs do indeed have over 200 G Bytes/s

I was actually surprised that MVUEs and the fellow point estimators are called frequentist (though it makes sense). In school we always referred to them as non-Bayesian, at the same time frequentist always seemed like a dirty word to us stu

Nice write up. Little bit of a funny though: Note how num_tanks ~ Unif(max(captured),2000) was defined, so you already have p[ parameter | data ]. Isn't this already a posterior? I get however how if you had the r.v.s num_tanks ~ Unif(

It would be nice to hear about the optimization method with convergence guarantees etc. Introducing the model is nice, but you need to show quality and easiness of fit. You can maybe do this before since you rely on the idea of learning the

I used to do this too, but I took pics of the figures or drew on paper them instead. The only times you don't feel like the silliest student in the room when live texing is when you have one of those professors that edits each equation
