Nvidia is not ignorant of the realities of hardware design. Google spends capital to get what it wants. Western Digital is not just "somebody with a listserv". Once those players front the money for the ecosystem the incentive to

Could just be referring to a lack of concerts, nightlife, etc. If you're used to the frequency with which major acts visit LA or Chicago or Nashville, adapting to anything else can be hard.

This was literally part of my first programming assignment in college. Can people really not do this? Isn't fizzbuzz considered too obvious these days? I feel like I must be misunderstanding...

Came here to say exactly this. I'd add that of the non-aerospace tech companies that have tried to build planes, I'm not aware of any that have launched commercially and I can only think of one that has ever flown. Turns out tha

Frankly, I don't think starting out with spherical cows and a neoclassical economics textbook is a rational approach to the housing problem. If you want to engage in it that's cool and you do you, but it's a bit like expect

I'm... not sure of this. A sharp spike in interest rates could make mortgages less attractive and dampen demand. Or, more positively, the Northgate or Othello areas could come up and start to look more like Ballard and increase the att

Yes, I was speaking to the actual situation in Seattle with all the caveats that implies. Most important among those is that HALA is an actual policy that describes what will be rezoned, how, and when. It notably will not permit 10x growth

I mean, what problem are you trying to solve? If the concern is that it takes roughly $60k/household just to live in Seattle, the answer is higher wages. Even if that acts as a drag on King county GDP, the King county housing market is

No need for mumbo jumbo. Supply greatly outstips demand and HALA is not that ambitious of a plan (and took many years to get through). There just aren't enough new units in the plan to cause prices to drop.

So, I live in Wallingford (the community mentioned here). In one of those Craftsman houses, no less. Here's the thing: Wallingford will be valuable and therefore expensive no matter what kind of housing you build here. Literally anythi

I did some interesting work, wound up on a recruiter's list somehow, and nobody cared about anything other than my code in my interviews. Which is pretty much the same way everyone else winds up there.

I graduated with a GPA so low recruiters used to ask me whether it was on a 4-point scale, but I got a job at Google and eventually led a team there. Probably shouldn't freak out over one test.

We bought about two years ago and live in Wallingford. It's starting to get crazy but there are still reasonable places to be had, especially as you get into summer. Seems to work out, and we're very happy with the area.

Cool attack, but the the proposed mitigations don't seem to solve the threat model. An attacker on the supply chain can always add a part that interposes on all i/o to the secure parts. This would have the same impact, unless I&#x

The sentiment in this thread is so odd to me. Whether you believe Google is a force for good or evil in the world, the fact that many of its employees demand that it be a good one should be positive, yeah? (As a disclaimer, I worked for Goo

IIRC Android is the most common operating system on Earth, while Linux desktops are still around 5% market share. Seems like desktop Linux needs to do as Android does to take off, not the other way around?

The problem isn't that you can't fab for mass production, it's that development costs are very high to get there. Working on an fpga only gets you so far.

Even without genetic predisposition this is the Catholic stance-- that being gay isn't a sin, but having gay sex is. Of course, this is sophistry; ask about whether two celibate gay men would be allowed a Catholic wedding and the answe
