This tool is so noisy that it's nearly unusable. "Unity" is a tiny tool?

Having worked with thick clients in the past, yes and no. There are a lot of caveats to data manipulation on client machines. You lose the luxury of caching, etc. Paging becomes more problematic, and there are a host of other issues. A bett

Plenty of people are aware of Gates' overwhelming greed. I would ignore all of it just to hear him talk for ten minutes about the overwhelming privilege he was born into and how that brought about his success.

I wonder if there is a corollary to the "If everyone you meet is an asshole" maxim when it comes to injected political opinions.

"the growing influence of US-style identity politics." Somewhat ironic but also dystopian that something that was born out of US intelligence agencies (identity politics) is now infecting the world.

As soon as someone identifies an enterprise programming paradigm that is better for 100+ software engineers touching the same codebase, OO will be replaced. Many of the theoretical advantages of OO in low level programming low level don

It seems to me that the author is trying to highlight the person in question's extreme privilege. Were it not for Challenor's father, it seems like this person may not have had the opportunities that they do.

Reddit will never be profitable in the fiscal sense. They are trading in other forms of capital at this point.

For my own edification, is "political lesbian" a single term? Is there a special definition there? Thanks.

I might disagree with you on one point - Gender critical feminists, whose detractors have kindly labeled "TERFs," threaten the philosophical underpinnings of the trans movement in a way that trans hate does not.

It depends. I have had interactions with some small community moderators that border on the insane. I was banned from AskHistorians for explaining the historical utility of nomadic herding of livestock. The moderator who banned me was also

This degree of censorship used to be noteworthy enough to find the front page of the site. The people who know about this censorship on reddit will be in the minority.

History teaches us that moral authoritarianism, properly executed, is the stuff of nightmares. Society should progress, but not "at any cost" or "by any means."

My interaction with reddit is now nearly zero. I turned on ad block some time ago. I will visit /r/todayilearned in the early morning while laying in bed, and I will use subreddits to research purchases. It is much more satisfying

The current standard model is slowly getting messier and messier. At some point we will make a discovery that adds some degree of elegance into our understanding of these interactions.

I think that was Twitch's intent. Why promote a basically no name streamer to a group made up mostly of very prominent people on the platform?

I think the streamer you're referring to was just the focal point and scapegoat for a lot of the outrage over the very unequal and sometimes disturbing way Twitch moderates content.

I think Twitter's problem is that there isn't enough feel good content. Facebook shows you the dark pattern engagement content, but they also have pictures of your family, kids selling girl scout cookies, 10 minute videos about ho

Shapiro is nearly universally reviled by the left and right. It's hard even for an open minded person to not see him as openly racist and misogynistic.

There is gross waste at every layer. The AMA artificially keeps doctors' earnings higher than they would be in a system that could respond to demand.
