I give all my juniors a score from ~2-4, which is a multiplier on the estimate for any task they're assigned. If it would take me N hours to do something, I expect them to take no more N*M hours to finish the task, and if at any point

You get paid an up front amount for enrolling, and then you get paid a per-event amount for complying, as well as different amounts for e.g. testing, having smart monitoring, etc.

I see two big problems with GPT: 1. It presents information really well that is completely false. I don't know exactly how it works under the hood, but sometimes it spits out paragraphs that read like the fever dreams of a flat earth

I've worked in curtailment. It's a fraught shell game. I think it's a great idea, but the system needs better controls. Many companies sign up for curtailment for e.g. heat related reasons who have heat based energy needs. Wh

I don't believe for a second that this has anything to do with safety. There is an imprudent war on fossil fuels going on in this country, that is well intentioned but poorly thought out. And to frame this as a DEI issue is just icing

Hi, so I looked at the links in the above post and while cartoony they are clearly not okay. It's not a "normie" take that we shouldn't sexualize children, even if they are animated.

A friend of mine (not in Japan) took over the family business. Previous to this, he was a "second chef" (is that a thing?) at a relatively well known restaurant regionally. He took a ~25% paycut, he works harder and longer than he

When a company does this, it's generally a knee jerk reaction to engineering telling product that development pace is slow because of "all the meetings."

I disagree with some of this greatly. Some of it is 100% spot on. 1. Getting laid of is usually pretty liberating. Everyone knows the company isn't generally doing well, the air is hot with friction, and you probably know you're w

The government will incentivize the kind of homebuilding that profits developers most (which currently seems to be townhomes in the 300k range and mcmansions in the 650k+ range in the suburban US). Developers are prolific political donors.
