Say what? A password protected RAR is the best choice? I must admit I stopped reading shortly after that paragraph.

I can confirm that HTC Desire running Android 2.2 has SIM toolkit.

Well I'm afraid you are wrong. To implement SIM toolkit you need to be able to communicate directly with the SIM card. Naturally due to security restrictions you don't have access to that in any mobile userland.

I basically live my life inside org-mode and I love reading well written stuff about how others use org-mode since I always find new ways of doing things, and new stuff that can be done in org-mode. The slogan of the good old board game oth

I have wanted a space cadet keyboard for close to 10 years now. Not only because it's really cool but because I live my life inside Emacs and this is the ultimate Emacs keyboard. Should clear up my Emacs finger pains in no time, not to spea

I've said it many a time before, but I always find it amusing that the net originally was created to survive nuclear war yet one person with a shovel or a ditch digger can wreak havoc to large parts of the net.

I really can't make up my mind about this one. On one hand it's very obvious to me that things like this need to cause a reaction, on the other hand it seems insane to handcuff a _child_ and put him in a cell for something like this. Seems

First of all: Sorry for the late reply. I somehow didn't notice your post before now. I was actually replying to jbrennan who said "If it's possible for an application to bring down the system that sounds like the system was poorly designed

I don't use GNOME because I find it way to heavy and bloated (I run X and the stumpwm manually). It would however be very interesting to know how early adapters find GNOME 3 compared to previous GNOME versions in terms of bloat and speed. I

All of the technical discussions about this aside this really makes no sense. To me it sounds a lot like claiming that you cannot own letters hence you cannot own an essay you wrote.

Really? Not once have I had an application take down GNU/Linux. Sure an application takes down X once in a blue moon, but never the whole Os. And I've been using it for about 15 years now. The few full scale crashes I've experienced were du

I tested evernote for a bit but I never really liked it, but I really couldn't tell you why. I finally ended up using both catch (previously 3banana) and springpad. There's a lot of overlapping features between the two, but I ended up using

No problem with many authors, simply expire when the last author dies. Corporations I sort of already said something about. However I must admit I like how things work in the Norwegian equivalent of copyright: You can transfer "copyright" t

I think this illustrates how screwed up copyright has become. I dream of a world where copyright lasts for 14 years or the copyright holder dies, which ever comes last. Thus an individual can retain copyright for life. If he or she dies bef

I'm amazed at the amount of "this is crap because I already knew it" comments in the articles comment section. Sure one sees this a lot on the web but it seems to me that it's becoming more and more common. As a hobbyist in the field I find

Verifone has a point, but it comes through very badly in what they wrote. It's all about the issue of trust and habit. Skimming equipment, both software and hardware, has been freely available for ages now. And it's quite simple. Anybody wh

I use a minimal Debian install with X and the stumpwm windowmanager. No desktop environment or login manager. Stumpwm basically acts as a placeholder for a terminal with multiple nested screen sessions and a web browser (conkeror). I basica
