I’ve given up. I’ve long assumed for a year now we are heading for warming that is even worse than the worst projections and it’s all over. This has given me some peace, like accepting you’re going to die.

There have been some back of the napkin estimates on what AI could cost from the major platforms once no longer subsidized. It does not look good, as there is a minimum of a 12x increase in costs. Local or self hosted LLMs will ultimately b

Meh, no. In a future where any app could be prompted, the only thing you’d get funding for is if you had managed to go viral and secure some large audience. This is not good. When all that matters is how viral your app is, people no longer

The people who will be most productive with AI will be the entreprompteurs who whip up entire products and go to market faster than ever before, iterating at dangerous speeds. Lean Startup methodology on pure steroids basically. Unfortunate

On a passive aggressively prompted AI: > I want to wash my car. The car wash is 50 meters away. Should I walk or drive? Walk. It will give you time to think about why you need an AI to answer such obvious questions.

Um obviously the Monte Carlo results would be use to generate utility AI scoring functions to determine the best card to use for different considerations. Have the people building these LLM AI systems even had experience with classical AIs!

Why would you use LLMs at all for that, can’t you just Monte Carlo this thing and be done with it?

I feel like I'm gonna puke, just knowing these are all cut out from images where a child is being sexually abused makes them feel so cursed.

There is a benefit of a skill though. If an AI keeps encoding common tasks as skills and scripts, the LLM eventually just becomes a dumb routing mechanism for ambiguous user requests, which ultimately drives down token usage. If everything

Let me get this straight: is this article saying we should have some kind of AI protocol where work is distributed across all peers in a network in order to process prompts, creating a sort of decentralized AI model free for all forever? Co

Like what exactly? Can you give example of the type of prompts you are sending for the agent to do? The messaging part isn’t particularly interesting. I can already access my local LLMs running on my Mac mini from anywhere.

Insane. Maybe the takeaway is to just quickly build things that will impress people and have no regard for safety or security. For OpenAI it’s a smart move, snatch up the creator of a viral and ride on its coat tails for the hype.

If you find yourself having to use LLMs to write a lot of tedious code, you have bad architecture. You should use patterns and conventions that eliminate the tedium, by making things automagically work. This means each line of code you writ

But random orders lend themselves better for discovery? If somebody’s site is just AAA they will be at the top of the list forever, what value is there in that?

Please considered sorting websites by last updated date by default, instead of alphabetical which is a pretty useless method of presentation. It works better for books and static pages, not dynamic internet content.

Yup. Search engines will basically be dead. Anything you’d type into a search engine you will probably prompt from an LLM instead. But hand curated human directories should in theory have a very high signal to noise ratio. Every link should

The fact that this was from 2018 and people were saying the same thing about the stock market as what people are saying today, gives me conviction that it’s best to just not worry about it and just buy stocks and start making money.

It is not a grant. It is UBI. People who advocated for UBI always said they will spend time creating art, etc. if they didn’t have to work for income. So here it is, the dream come true.
