It seems like the main issue is that the author doesn't know the language yet. It would probably take a beginner python programmer 40+ minutes to write the mode function too. J might have a lot of primitives, but for an example that mi

Of course it would. School starts at roughly the same time as normal work hours. Most schools start a little before here to allow parents get to work after dropping off their kids. You couldn't just change school hours in isolation wit

I feel the same way, the further north you are the bigger a factor it becomes. I can see issues with icy roads on winter mornings too. Daylight savings makes sense, just not everywhere. The change is happening now though. Even though it wou

I expected the debugging session to end when they identified the transistor that was bad, but these guys were dedicated! I've never seen a transistor can opened like that. I love how it's essentially just a shrunken down version o

Absolutely. This thread seems to be populated with people who think everywhere in "the west" = the USA. I'm in Ireland and hate carrying change so I use my phone all the time to pay, I only end up going to the ATM ~ once ever

Concussions are a big problem in rugby too, and they have only relatively recently realised the extent of the issue. The NFL may have swept the issue under the carpet for years, but everyone was burying their head in the sand until very rec

As a cyclist it happens all the time, it goes something like this: 1) A car comes within centimeters of side swiping me and knocking me down. They don't even notice I'm there. 2) They stop at the next traffic light, I tap on the w

Terse syntax isn't an issue, you just need to get used to reading it. Using 1 character variable names is another matter though. There is no reason not to use camel cased variable names and indent functions, if/else blocks etc, an

That's more on you than it is the language though. You can write obtuse write-only code in any language. I will concede that there is a culture of trying to be a bit too clever on the k4 mailing list but it's perfectly possible
