I think BufferBox in the most recent YC batch is a perfect example of this. They're making an Amazon Locker that works with everything, Amazon or no. They launched in Toronto, and already pretty much own the market with Canada Post addresse

I can't seem to find a link. It wasn't very large. Maybe 8 feet by 20. But it was just enough to make it feel like the way things used to be.

They also have these in the US. My grandfather was in a home that had a whole 1940s small town-type setting in the backyard area complete with bus stop, sidewalk, and a little bit of fake street.

Hit us up at support@tapin.tv and we'll debug this. It looks like it's working intermittently

It's a grocery delivery company. It was more developed than the YC partners realized. That wasn't clear until actual groceries were delivered.

This post deals more with setting up the best possible environment at the beginning of a project, rather than joining a team. You obviously have less say in that. This section's not about being sycophantic about a particular option, it's ab

Thanks! I didn't write the article, but I'm on the team. We tried to make sure that people who care what we do can find it, but it doesn't dominate the page.

Absolutely. And then force yourself to adopt it. For instance, if you want to remap your control key to caps lock, physically remove your control key from the keyboard.

I would argue that it's fundamentally non-Skinnerian. There's no intermittent reward mechanism and it's fundamentally communal. It's fun and it's a little weird, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

We built video links with the assumption that they'd be shared to people who knew that they'd be getting linked to a video. We'll include a tag next time we link to a video on TapIn.tv

We're incorporating a mobile viewing experience on the iOS app. Right now you have to do live video through Flash. We're looking at a transition to WebRTC, but it's not viable as of now.

I don't know if he has a public portfolio, but he designed the Palantir logo[1]. The design functions as both a Palantir, the seeing eye from Lord of the Rings, and as a head looking at a book. All with a circle and a wave. [1] http://i.img

I've had the pleasure of talking to the guys from ViaCycle. Koji himself is a UW grad. Apparently it's difficult to do bike sharing in Seattle because of King County's helmet law.

That's a really good idea. I made a thing for it on our community feature request page[1]. Feel free to vote and comment on it. [1] http://support.tapin.tv/forums/167374-general/suggestions/30...

It'll be interesting to see Amazon square off against a startup. They've been doing battle with B&M stores, Google and Apple. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with a company several orders of magnitude smaller than them. With t

Bambuser has done some great things. I think there's still a lot of room for improvement in the live video sharing space.

A few differences. We have sound, unlimited video length and have a much heavier focus on content creation. The current app is entirely for content creation while the web end is consumption.

And, anything streamed can't be confiscated. You aren't obligated to show a police officer anything not physically on your phone if they're arresting you.

Here's a link to the YC FAQ where they talk about competition: http://ycombinator.com/faq.html . That said, I don't think we're a competitor to Justin.tv's live streaming app. We're angling toward fastest video possible, rather than live v

Users are fickle, but this play was tried by EA with Origin. You can get them onboard with the big titles like Battlefield 3, but they've been less successful at getting users to buy titles from smaller publishers. Steam offers a better dea

It has to do with the way Valve has approached it. From day one it wasn't, "How do we stop people from pirating?" It was, "How do we make a more convenient service than the pirates?" And that's where they won. In the early days, people push
