A mobile dev at Crowdtilt told me a few weeks ago that the app was meant for small-scale situations such as splitting a dinner bill between friends. I doubt any large-scale public campaign would be started from a phone.

I'm not sure these statistics are completely accurate. The study was done through Survata, which presents surveys as a free method to access paywalled content[1]. People who encounter such things have no incentive to be truthful or careful
