Did you read what I shared? Yes, that would be better than a free for all. Of course. The guy I lost had unique physiology that meant he was unable to use a substance most can with far fewer worries. We have that data point now, and I hope

Thanks for that PSA. And here's to your lost friend! I have a lost one too, but due to a different cause. He took hard drugs he was dealing to pay off a house after a legislative decision basically eliminated his well paying job. We

Seriously. Back in the 90's a lot of movie production was being done on the SGI IRIX computers. Jurassic Park themed ones even. Really spiffy machines with both an excellent GUI and terminal. Cheap WIN NT boxes with nVidia GPUs on th

Truth, but! The middle hellish experience being described here is not a bad thing. Fact is, Ubuntu used as autopilot is pretty great! It is way better than it used to be. Mere mortals can jump on a computer and often get the few things th

Indeed! Well, yes. Thank you. I am interested and frankly identify with others who would literally pry back the cloak of reality itself to see what lies beyond, or inside. Sometimes I feel like it is crazy. Here we are, each of us taking

Lol, I feel that! On my 2600 game Ooze! I would drop item Y values into the audio registers as a poor man's way of making some cool sounds of enemy advancing. Same for the player missile. As it travels, some variation of its Y value

Seriously great use of monochrome bitmap graphics. These are my favorite old computer games. I really like frame locked, often using sprite system, type games. Atari VCS comes to mind, as do many other systems that have sprites and some m

Ahhh, thanks for that. microLED was my first hope, until the AMOLED tech seemed to fill the gap for the smaller, high DPI, display use case at least. Nice to see the rapid dev going on. Are there differences between OLED sources? I'

I have an HD plasma and it is fantastic. It is the very best living room display I have owned. Like the CRT, it has glowing phosphors in a tube. Unlike the CRT, it is pixel addressable, where the CRT is basically not addressable, or maybe

When I saw the third thumb, one use case stood right out: Holding cell phones! I bet you can picture it too. That third thumb and fingers capture the phone leaving your standard thumb to input text with ease.

And when one does so, remain ethical, should that discussion get ugly, holding to those ethics does a world of good when it comes down to others having to trust your intent was as just and true as you could manage. That means a lot.

It's in the CoCo 3 and worked pretty well! Basically, it can page a couple of megabytes (maybe 4 I can't remember off hand) into and out of the 16 bit address space as 2, 4, 8Kb pages. The really nice thing is how well the 6809 ca
