Fair point. Codeberg.org is more GitHub-like and has fewer gamification elements, for what it's worth, but many platforms which aim, more or less, to be GitHub clones, often include these elements without much critical analysis.

SourceHut author here. Not sure what you're trying to say. The opposite is also true: using GitHub requires that your would-be contributors conform to the pull request workflow instead -- and many people prefer emails. If anyone is ske

I am a copyright abolitionist and a Copilot critic, and this worldview is not dissonant. An ideal world would not have copyright and would require all software to be free software, but we live in a world where copyright exists. FOSS project

#sr.ht is an on-topic channel for end-user support and development discussion. Since Docker/k8s has been rejected upstream, it's off-topic for #sr.ht. The channel needs to keep quiet and keep a high signal:noise ratio to make sure

We're going to start looking into k8s and Docker soon as one of the candidates for infrastructure in our new datacenter rollout, but don't hold your breath. It will be a while before this bears any fruit and we may decide it'

Correction: you can do pre-emptive multi-tasking on z80. I wrote an OS to take advantage of this back in the day. It has interrupts, after all. User programs (as it were) can disable interrupts, but the z80 has NMIs as well if your hardware

You'd think that GitLab would pause from chasing after GitHub's tail for at least long enough to question whether or not these features are ethical.

Daniel Stone once pointed out a key difference between libweston and wlroots, two competing approaches for generalizing the work involved in building a Wayland compositor, to explain why wlroots succeeds where libweston does not. He drew th

The broken promise line is mostly a joke, I implemented threads for a specific use-case and I don't intend to generalize it. I definitely do not intend to support nonfree operating systems. It was not a mistake to skip them.
