The adtech industry is a huge sham. It's an open secret that ads don't work and that most of the data is fraudulent. There are thousands of companies with deliberately complicated relationships to pull a giant shell game with ad

"Corporation" is not a unit of measure. A "unicorp" does not have a market cap of $1. "Megacorp" does not use an SI prefix - it just refers to exceptionally large companies. This is the understanding my word ch

You're comparing a known with an unknown. We can judge that the known is unethical. We cannot judge either way on the unknown. It follows that the only possibly ethical choice is at Smallcorp. And I'm sure we could make a much bet

Google was a very large company at $23B, but hardly a stand-out on the Fortune 500. The megacorps which are the focus of discussion - contemporary FAANG et al - are in an entirely different league, by orders of magnitude.

Just to give you some perspective, using Google as an example. I don't know when Google had 5,000 employees, but I have a source[0] that says they had 3,000 in 2004, when they went public, and after the market settled their market cap

I see. That's a really messed up power dynamic. I'm really ashamed of the US immigration policy, and of the exploitation of H1B's by US companies, especially in the tech sector. I'm sorry you have to endure that.

I'm not an immigrant, so I don't have your perspective. But I wonder the same about H1B's: I don't understand the allure of the United States (besides the money?). Our industry is horrible to its H1B's, H1B exploita

If a company's value starts with a "B" (or... ugh... a "T"), they won't care about you. You should not give them anything of your life, because it's worth next to nothing to them. Mega-corps are life sucki

You don't add ARIA tags to the UI - you use UI elements which are already accessible. You should never, ever make a button out of a div. The JavaScript community needs to grow up and stop chasing shiny things, because they're leav

You should fix this attitude, becuase it's making your applications worse. The browser is the best at doing the things it does, and any control that you implement yourself is going to be worse. If the browser can do something for you

The VPN game is a grift. It's based on using fearmongering to sell services people don't need without adequately explaining the tradeoffs and risks. I lump it in the same category as multi-level marketing scams, and it's not
