Tell that to the IETF, who publishes thousands of standards for free, standards that made your comment on this forum possible. Open standards. Open research. Open code. This is how we progress as a society. Rent seeking organizations like I

This is it. This is the end-game of the dragnet surveillance work that employs a significant population of Hacker News. You have literally turned cell phones into an informant which is used to fucking murder the user. You are complicit in

It is important to remember that this is the first release candidate of a series which is usually 7 or 8 entries strong. It's pretty far removed from shipping. This is a testing procedure, though not one which looks the way you'

I don't think it's reasonable. The maintainer is the only person standing in the way of enabling the abuse of real people. Just say no.

It is very janky, and worse, totally unaccessible, rendering it useless (or frustrating at best) for huge numbers of the population. And why? It's just yet another shiny web framework. We've known how to build websites for decades

If I recall correctly, the Tianwen-1 amateur signal reception was (1) shortly after launch, and (2) using a 20 meter dish. Receiving the downlink from a deep space object requires much more sophisticated technology than most amateurs have a

Yeah, with Codec 2 setting the gold standard, I don't find this very impressive. I find this more intelligible at one-third of the Lyra bitrate: http://www.rowetel.com/downloads/codec2/hts2a_1300.wav Codec 2

We don't keep stats on discarded registrations, and usually the spammer gives up or changes tactics when they realize what's going on. How exactly does this invalidate my thesis?

It is an issue of bulk registration. The reason why the numbers are low is because we detect it fairly quickly and teach their shape to our abuse prevention tools.

Copying my reply to HN: Some feedback: you should add a PTR record (reverse DNS) for studer.dev and mail.studer.dev. I also noted that your DMARC record has p=quarantine, which depending on the details of your outgoing setup, may cause your

Maintaining T2 platforms doesn't need to be a lot of work unless you make it so. Rust made that choice by being extraordinarily complicated, which I don't feel compelled to forgive it for. There are a lot of platforms which aren

To some extent, Rust exposes the complexity inherent in systems programming, through features like the borrow checker. However, it's disingenous to say that all of Rust's complexity is a reflection of complexity inherent in system

There aren't any Xorg maintainers left. Xorg was abandoned, by its maintainers, because it's a broken pile of shit. Calling it a broken pile of shit is validating its (ex-)maintainers, not being a dick to them.

No, it doesn't. What matters is that xclip and vnc aren't broken on Wayland. I mean, xclip is, but it's called x clip for a reason. The use-case is not broken, and is fulfilled instead by a tool called wl-clipboard.
