ChatGPT has a pretty obvious writing style at the moment. It's not a question of some nebulous "AI detector" gotcha, it's more just basic human pattern matching. The abundant bullet points, copious bold text, pithy one l

I think this is purely psychological. The notion of paying for usage of some resource that you don't own is really rather mundane when you get down to it.

First of all, some people do commute via ride hailing apps, yes. Second of all, transportation is a much bigger category than simply taking people to and from work.

As a blanket statement that's not true with NYC being the most obvious (but not the only) counterexample.

Uhhhhh... What? Are we living on the same planet? The Senate is absolutely terrible. Not only is it breathtakingly undemocratic, the modern rise of the filibuster raising the threshold to 60% makes it even harder to pass any legislation.

Why would you want to slow down the more common thing instead of the less common thing? I'm not following that at all. That's why I asked if that's backwards.

The geology-centered conception of terroir in wine that you're giving is actually rather controversial and not generally supported by any science we've done to date. For wine, "terroir" rather encompasses things like cli

They're making it up no matter what they do, since we don't know how these things were originally painted and have no way of knowing. They should just present the reconstructions as interpretations and actually try to do a good jo

It's a good price but the Barracuda line isn't intended for NAS use so it's unclear how reliable they are. But it's still tempting to roll the dice given how expensive drive prices are right now.

There's a lot of complexity here that you're overlooking. First of all, the sites have KYC and require geolocation software so it's not trivial to play. Especially not for the bot developers which have tended to live in Easte

I'm a current online poker pro but probably not for much longer. Bots are a serious and real problem and they do beat the games for a good winrate. But it's still possible to make money even in environments with some bots as long

It's a pretty wild story. Rudy was also very prolific so there are a lot of his bottles out there in collections and potentially still on the auction market. He had a huge impact on the expensive wine collection trade.

I know that civility is a core value of this community but it is very hard to respond to your comments here while maintaining that. What number would I propose? Probably a negative one. I don't think "we can say that at least 50-7

I think that's because the framing around this (and similar stories about eg IMO performances) is imo slightly wrong. It's not interesting that they can get a gold medal in the sense of trying to rank them against human competitor

While "Catalan Spanish" is certainly a nonstandard term, when contrasted against "Castilian Spanish" it does make some sense: it's the Romance variant that developed in the Catalonia part of Spain, vs the one that d

The one they were talking about (based on scans of original film prints) is called 4K77/4K80/4K83 for the three films. I believe the first project of this type for Star Wars was Harmy's Despecialized Edition but I think these

The Star Wars project is a bit of an outlier in terms of the insane work and dedication that's gone into it. However, in the quality-focused corners of online film piracy, it's still pretty routine for people to combine the best f

To be blunt, upscaling is pretty shit and doesn't belong in a discussion about quality. The quality-obsessed piracy world we're talking about here would shudder at the comparison.
