These things have been "good" for a while now. And yet, companies like Amazon and Microsoft aren't showing significant improvement in their most visible products. If it's not obviously showing for the all-in, AI-sellin

That’s awesome. I did some low budget hobby ones in the late 90s/early 00s… back when we had to rent time on real hardware for editing. Nothing that’s even online. I’ll check that one out.

OpenAIs annoys me. In the “can’t be unseen” way. The lines don’t actually work. Like they asked their bot to make a solomons knot style logo and it flubbed it. But apparently it was good enough for purpose.

It’s the NES Game Genie. Unlimited lives and the ability to walk through walls is great fun for a bit. But also, you never actually played the game and it kinda ruined it for you, for all time. You’ve seen the outcome, you solved nothing, l

If development is trivial and capability remains the differentiator, then "familiarity, polish, [and] integration" are non-issues. I'm not sure what network effects even means in the context of llm selection.

The part that applies to AI is probably that they're (accused of) distilling SOTA models at a massive scale.

Not even a defense of Apple here… but I think most everyone does know. We just agree to bury our heads in the sand and not to do anything about it as long as service continues in good faith. It comes up occasionally ever few years, whenev

And someone else always cries luddite if anyone says, “Hey guys, this isn’t what the salesman said.” What matters is the reality of the thing… which is exactly what everyone is discussing. As they should. We need more conversations like thi

Oh, bull. The market is not pricing in a theoretical gdp of Mars in 2070. They’re thinking “Tesla stock trades at absurd P/E for no reason other than vibes… this one might, too!”

If people have access to the information and the price reflects demand, then it feels more like “bad decision” than “scam”.

It’s been a very long time, but as I recall MS recommendations for AD domains and dns collisions changed multiple times. Used to be real problems if you had overlap.

I did something similar. I wanted to tell myself I had done it, but also it was an inexpensive learning experience and I got an app that I wanted out of it. And I think I got that. I like how mine does what it does (maps breaker panels an

Not really, no. Not that it doesn’t occasionally happen, but at that point you’re trying to dodge the police… as compared to there being no police in the first place.

It's almost weird hard Claude trends towards that look. It's so distinct... it can't be an amalgam of the most popular design choices, can it?

US office culture is generally pretty high trust. It has relatively high autonomy, authority, and low surveillance norms. I don't know what that has to do with a historical period of slavery.
