A long time ago I found the chicken and egg problem to be more general than TDD. It was more along the lines of, "how do you write a program when you don't have the code (subroutines, other functions) it needs to run?" Where

The first thing I thought of was the old simile widgets[0]. There is still a timeline demo online[1]. I think they're fascinating, but they are a bit of a challenge (for me at least) to understand how they work - I don't know Java

I recently discovered the joy of abstracting away time. I write a lot of software in Go for work. This library, https://github.com/benbjohnson/clock , provides a Clock interface that can be used for creating either cloc

When they are described like that, they are ridiculous. That description of what to do lacks the context of why you might want to take notes at all. The OP put it best with, "Your zettelkasten should be made up of your ideas about the

I think big-endian naming was useful for programming with editors that supported tab completion. At one point, the suggestions were only displayed alphabetically. Nowadays, editors use a more sophisticated algorithm (is there a name for it?

As rakoo said, exponential backoff mitigates the thundering herd. I was going to say add some jitter to the time before reconnecting, then I realized rakoo already said "after a random short time", which is exactly what jitter is.

I wonder if that happens because an entrepreneur may be caught up in a feeling of what needs to be done, but has yet to clearly articulate the pain/joy/humor driving the work. It wasn't until the OP really pushed himself that

From a layperson's perspective (I am not an astronomer at all), it sounds like they found 2 Saturn-like planets in the making. They're still forming from their dust disks. That in itself is cool.
