The Eee is ugly, slow, and gimpped, so I wouldn't consider that a very good option. Unless all you do is surf the web and check email (and absolutely nothing else).

Yeah, but he's right. The future of entertainment doesn't have DVDs in it. I'm hoping with Apple TV I can skip BluRay alltogether, but I haven't seen the HD specs from the iTunes store yet.

Yeah, some people convinced me to build a competitor. I will. When it's done in a few weeks, I'll do an Ask YC post about it.

In a perfectly beautiful capitalist society-- that is, a small community-- I would create a better site and put him out of business. But due to the sheer number of users he has now, the switching cost (for each user) is almost assuredly too

True. The reason I so deeply disrespect the man, though, is because with that 10 million dollars he has done absolutely nothing to advance the experience of people on his site. It's also possible that he could take his huge customer base an

You're right, he most certainly doesn't deserve to be successful. I love this line from nyt: "Spending time at Plenty of Fish is a visually painful experience." You have to have a really screwed up interface to make someone call it "visuall

I'd say that the lack of OpenID on consumer sites is fortunate, because it would just confuse 95% of people. It confuses some geeky/internet-savvy people too, just because of the horrifically bad implementation and design of the OpenID syst

You were "forced" to use bugmenot? Why not just choose a unique ID? I don't understand some of these people who are hyper-security-conscious to the point of insanity. It affects their enjoyment of the internet.

It seems simple, but this quote probably had the most profound impact on my life, more than any other quote I've ever read/heard: "When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday
