Sorry to be a hater. I think the average HN reader knows a lot more about this than the average Bloomberg reader.

This article is virtually content-free. "Google are building robots. They've hired some people. Those robots may or may not be grabbing objects."

That's how much it costs in America. But there's nothing stopping them from selling it to South Africans for $20 a month. The marginal cost of an additional student is surely very low.

When things are "a pain to maintain," code gets worse and worse over time. Performance then suffers because no one understands what's going on. In other words, I believe that in the long run, complexity is a far bigger perfor

I agree with you, but I suspect (not a node dev) the reason people talk this way is that almost everyone uses Express as their server, and a lot of people use NoSQL databases, which means they can live without an ORM, at least when they sta

It's certainly possible, but for now you could just write an app in plain React and wrap it in a web-to-native app wrapper, using something like Electron or MacGap (which Slack uses for their Mac app). http://electron.atom.i

Isn't the fact that men and women do such differently-paying things after college itself significant? You seem to think the article is arguing something more than it is.

I use SourceTree full-time but am keeping an eye on GitUp[1]. The UI is not quite there yet IMO, but it's insanely fast and I love the focus on keyboard shortcuts. [1] http://gitup.co/

I hesitate to call presence a buzzword because I've felt it (if only briefly), but then again big data is both real and a buzzword, so I guess presence can be too. However, I haven't seen the latter used in a bullshit way very oft

I think this can be read as a different way of saying the same thing. If men are socially conditioned to do something and women are not, then you can see that as women being socially conditioned to not do that thing.

"It's not logical" on its own is not a valid argument for anything . An actual argument shows why something is not logical.

You realize React Native has been out for about 3 months, right? Rails is nearly 10 years old. I almost think you must be joking.

I wish the therapy answers were getting voted up higher. The other answers are okay as far as they go, but a therapist is like a personal coach who can help you pick a path and stick to it. They can be an actual third person to go along w

The other commenter is right, but I'll break it down a bit further. There are actually two related ways of using the word DOM. Usage 1: the set of rules (API) for manipulating a document HTML is a way of writing down a webpage so you c
