I changed my Ergodox’s switches to some nice silents and put it on a desk pad and it was a lot better.

I will always remember when I first got into serious proof-based math in the first semester of college, and I had to work hard to develop my sense of what counts as a sufficient proof. I would read the proofs in the textbook and hit the QED

Been interested lately in switching to a fast combined linter/formatter instead of the standard eslint + prettier combo, which are quite slow. Not sure I'll pick Biome (deno lint + fmt is another option) but it's a lot more l

Chat generally being a nice way to interact with the model is one thing, but if anything this proves my point: there are now dozens of little web UIs on GitHub that are as good as the official one or better. You put in an API key and you ha

Enjoyable read — would be nice to have 2014 in the title, it's easy to miss. This[0] is a nice writeup from 2019 that does a better job of connecting England's work to contemporary complexity theorists like Stuart Kauffman. [0]:

I don't see how things like Cursor[0] (a VS Code fork with a nicer Codex UI) have a moat or chance of profitability in the face of things like this. If you can run models locally or your employer can spin up their own instance for inte

Once (in college I think) I was reading the Tractatus on a plane and the person sitting next to me asked “hey, whatcha reading?” I showed them the cover and the face they made was hard to describe but very memorable.

It has to build the same stuff as the product because the examples are interactive. So being able to use your existing build config without doing anything special is great.

Part of the answer is surely that the tools you’re talking about are dramatic improvements on the originals, speaking as a longtime Webpack and Jest user who now uses Vite and Vitest. Neither is Vue-specific, by the way — I use them with Re

Setting aside the “why stories?” part (plenty of people use UX stories — I do, though I am ambivalent about them), the powered by Vite line does have some content to it: 1. If you’re already using Vite, you know it will integrate easily 2.

Same. I use both Vite and stories and it took me a solid 30 seconds of scrolling around to figure out what they were talking about.

I like Butler and I like Nussbaum, and this article is a classic. For balance, here is a recent interview with Butler being quite clear and incisive[0] and here is a fantastic, somewhat critical profile of Nussbaum[1]. Worth mentioning also

I think you can give Miyazaki a lot more credit than that for the girls and women in Totoro, Kiki, Mononoke, and Spirited Away.

Ridiculous take. TypeScript turns into JS practically one-to-one. In 5 years I’ve never heard of a performance problem introduced in transpilation.
