This is what I’m thinking too. They took Cron and rebranded. If they can re-build Skiff without all the encryption baggage then it can slot in.

I know how shitty exits work, trust me. I don’t know why Notion wouldn’t want to tack on email to their product suite. email may not work in isolation in exactly the way Skiff was doing it, but it’s not expensive to operate and it does work

Why would Notion shut down the email provider product? I understand sunsetting drive and rolling pages and calendar into Notion and Cron, respectively. But it would be pretty awesome if Notion had an email service. There’s nothing out there

By the interest free loan logic, you should have your employer withhold zero and then you put your taxes in a high yield savings account and pay them all as late as possible.

Woah, it’s okay to have different tax situations. I started a business one year and got a pretty big refund. But we’re not out there bragging about how we get big refunds every year like it’s some goal to aim for and accomplishment to be pr

I mean yeah I agree. I think most Catholics are amenable to TBBT for exactly that reason. I find the response that we’re talking about comes from the more “born again” literal types. Point is that Catholic doctrine and hence a well thought

Simulation theory is tired in the popular and pragmatic sense. The answer to the question doesn’t have much bearing on our day to day lives. And that likely for the best. But that doesn't make it irrelevant to the philosophy of science

I think when people say that “simulation theory is tired” they’re speaking on a pragmatic level. Yeah the theory is well proliferated in pop culture and at present doesn't have any practical physical implication on everyman Jack’s life

It’s not bizarre if you believe the bible is a reference manual to existence as some more literal religious types do. In that sense it’s pretty obvious why some people want the universe to be 10k years old.

I think you’re forgetting that there’s no definitive way to represent something, compressed or raw. So while it’s interesting to acknowledge that we can compress data and sometimes rather efficiently, I’m not sure it maps to anything physic

Thew rant is justified. Link local addresses were cool at first but then people realized they were actually a really bad leak of layer 2 into layer 3 and that you need something truly layer 3 but for private networks and abstracted over lin

+1. Link local is like connecting to a computer by mac address. The only time you’d ever want it is if you for some ungodly reason are worried that all other addressing systems have failed, or to bootstrap said systems.

I’m not asking the same question twice. Read carefully. And the comment I responded to was edited. I’m not insisting anything. A lot of people assume open source means free as in beer and don’t even realize dual licensing is an option.

On the topic of open sourcing your core business, founders often worry that a competitor is going to take their source code, fork it, and directly compete with them. But, is there an actual example of this happening for real and the fork wi
