Due to interchange fees on the major processing networks it is not practical to charge less then $1. Fees per charge are something like 30 cents plus percentage of transaction.

People need to know how to connect to a system or service. Once it becomes large enough to be the target of censorship the technologies used are relatively moot. This is much easier with the financial system since the on ramps are so tightl

Kind of like vcs and startup founders who use their status to “mentor” women in tech just to try and get in their pants. Predation is not unique or exclusive to any organization or group.

Same. My shower thought has been, has this affected the implementation timelines of safety features in traditional cars? The general public seems to think we’re going to have self driving cars any day now, but anyone reasonably well informe

I don’t know tbh, but I think having lots of small individual plots you probably lose economies of scale. Especially if you’re growing in dense urban areas there’s probably more efficient use for the land. Although vertical farming could ma

Buying food from farms that get economies of scale would probably be less carbon intensive per unit than individuals tending their own plots. Those farms could also ensure they minimize/offset their own carbon footprints.

There's a difference between saying hey, it'd be cool if you move to cities and intentionally increasing the prices of raw materials people use (like gas prices in california) and preventing the development of projects which make

The server motherboard I just bought has this as well. Thankfully access to it is at least isolated to a separate network port. I'm debating supergluing it closed or maybe physically disconnect the port somehow.

It feels to me like the entire os security model is broken and leaving security up to applications even well resourced ones like chrome is a fools errand. Is there anyway we could benefit from starting again and building a secure os from f

I don’t find issues with your views but I think it’s completely untenable to make this happen politically and will either result in global war or the collapse of our civilization. Kind of saying the same thing twice I suppose. If the people

A majority of Americans cannot afford an unexpected expense of $1,000, let alone $16,500. The fact that its cheaper than the amount of gas you'd pay over that lifetime is irrelevant considering most Americans are not rich enough to sho

The thinking is that it's not an isolated incident and lots of PD's & hospitals did this. It's hard to prove because no one will admit to it, and the people being sent aren't always the most reliable witnesses.

How do devs ask to get offers in writing? It's always been verbal in all the interviews I've had, and they're resistant to putting things in emails.
