It’s quieted down a lot in the last few weeks, but I set up https://hackerforums.co to compliment this site for longer running/traditional bulletin board style forum conversations.

My sister in law is a travel agent and has to use this. It looks god awful, but she is quite efficient in it. Similar to finding companies still using AS400 systems...not modern in the slightest, but efficient for skilled users.

I feel like if I could have one device that lets me take really nice pictures (like portrait mode on iphone) and only do texting and phone calls and maps, I would be a pretty happy person. Maybe airline apps for boarding passes and stuff. I

Are you just tinkering with all of those ideas above? Or where are you finding these ideas? Like others have said, start with the problem, rather than coming up with solutions first. Do you have any of the things you listed on github or any

Stumbled across this after reading this Medium post https://medium.com/@undergroundpost/painlessly-managing-long... intriguing! I've always wanted a clean way to do this type of real-time without having to go deep

That's a really neat idea! Maybe include alerting and the ability to "follow" services you use to monitor their prices?

Can you share the app? If so, would be cool to post it here to get a discussion going on it: https://hackerforums.co/show-hf-f7/

This is exactly why I setup https://hackerforums.co ! It’s a small community, but humming along fine so far. I have a long post with details of our first month getting posted tomorrow!

This is a neat way to highlight interesting things going on here, but as others are pointing out, it surfaces the challenges of a temporal ranking system creates...this was a very manually curated post that could probably be easily automate

What's interesting though, is that these people actually know him. Anyone else on earth most likely doesn't know him, but has formed a negative opinion of him via his own actions and those of his company.

This is a good idea, and I'd be very interested to see if they ever added that, as it would essentially solve the long running conversation problem that exists on HN now.

To follow up: I think I fixed this, but I don’t have a good way to test. So please let me know if there are other things to investigate

Thanks for the feedback. I briefly looked at smf but it didn’t seem as well supported as phpbb was (though it did look nice). Any specific examples of wasted space you think I should address?

That was kinda the point of this whole thing though. This wasn't a software project for me, this was a community project. I have no interest in developing a forum, but I do have interest in participating in one. From what I can tell so
