Isn't that pretty much setting you up to be a non-profit? One would typically have to use a similar "stretched analogy" to turn those few areas you mention into a for-profit company in most cases. I guess in my greedy little capitalist mind

Manned missions involving highly trained air force pilots and school teachers on a government funded space ferry seem undesirable. Manned space flight involving random wealthy civilians seems to have taken its place. Perhaps folks are tired

Ok, I see that now. Thanks. Not sure about Steve Russell, but I agree that is rather extraordinary.

Hmmm... well, there are probably more than two types, but I think there are at least the two types you mentioned. The only person I really feel comfortable speaking for is myself. I choose Lisp (Common Lisp in particular, and SBCL at that)

My opinion - a lot of it comes down to implementation. There are a couple of really good open source implementations, but for the most part a lot of Lisp folks prefer the commercial ones. Anecdotally, Lisp came along so long ago that it has

* It turned out you could do it: I programmed it for the IBM 704.* Anyone else find this comment motivating? It kind of sums up a moment of reflection I guess I somehow aspire to. Find an insanely difficult challenge, that you deem importan

What's up with the disclaimer? "stuckk.net is a blog by Andrew Wansley and Joe Huston. We are contractually required to post 750 words a week." Anyone ever see that on a blog before?

Evolution takes time. Give it a few generations and pen and paper will fall by the wayside. People can see there are significant advantages (search, share, organize, remote collaboration, etc...), even if its awkward at the moment, which se

Wait - this is techcrunch. Didn't they just the other day also boldly claim that Facebook allows faxing of photos? Did they allow both Intuit and Mint a chance to respond? I'll be waiting a few days before cancelling my Mint account before

Sorry, but not seeing the point of posting an old PG article without a new observation. Is it some kind of test to see if it will automatically get voted up?
