So I have no idea what the current state of the research on this is, or how depression manifests in contemporary (culturally Westernised) China, but historically there was quite a bit of research indicating it was more somaticised. People s

I think 12 year olds are incredibly capable and curious. I also know that the only thing preventing them from being exploited in the labour market like adults are the scant legal protects that exist to prevent them from being treated as adu

Please read the original article. You're comparing voluntarily part time work to save for a luxury, to being compelled to work - i.e.: having an adult job, and a deeply unpleasant and dangerous one at that.

Lots of people in the comments are wilfully eliding the distinction between their fond memories of working for a few hours to save for candy and videogames, and the child exploitation being described in the article.

I think you need to read the article. You're comparing some hours helping with an adult activity with full time employment as a child, in dangerous conditions as vulnerable survival work.

Hobby work for luxuries isn't comparable to full time work for survival. Did you read the article? Did you "wake up at 4AM?" to pick strawberries? Did you work "a full adult schedule"? Were you working in 90 degree

12 year olds are generally prepubescent children. This isn't like a sixteen year old working to save for a car, or even a fourteen year old gaining a little independence and exercise working a few hours after school. This is child labo

English, Berlins a terrible place to learn German! Huge proportion of the central 'ring' population is non-native and only have mediocre or non-existent German.

That's heartbreaking. I volunteered at a place in Templebar called Exchange Dublin from 2010 - 2013, forcibly closed by the council on spurious grounds (along with dozens of other spaces) in 2014. We hosted literally thousands of DIY g

'Athleisure', or at least wearing a tracksuit or tracksuit mixed with jeans as a daily driver has been popular since the early 90s. It was popularised by the British rave scene in the late 80! The primary difference now is its pa

I don't think this is correct at all. 'Retro' of one kind or another has been the primary focus of mainstream fashion as far back as the 70s. Since the early 2000s retro become so ubiquitous that it's essentially invisib

The culture is here, it's just not evenly distributed. My own view as a writer and artist, is that there's a relatively consistent amount of creative innovation being done at any given time. It's access to it and promotion of

Interesting, why do you think that is? As a straight guy, facial appearance would be extraordinarily important for me - even for a hookup. Is it not as much of a priority, or are people still closeted / afraid of being catfished?
