Salary data like this has to be interpreted by someone knowledgeable. Very often it becomes skewed or invalid in various ways. Source: close relative is a compensation analyst.

I don't think this is meaningfully different than the human case for the past 20 years. Every large project I've worked on had people writing tests that didn't test anything and people who argued strongly when I pointed out g

Presumably these are equally likely because you could build a DNA-printer and thereby create a dragon of some sort (not sure if it could have fully functional fire breathing though)?

I think it's pretty clear at this point that rule of law isn't functioning. Perhaps it never was. It was just rule of law theater.

I think you under appreciate him a bit here. No he's not a super genius. He's probably not even a good engineer. But he is a) a total a.hole and b) a tremendous bullshitter. There are circumstances in which you need such a person

You don't need to carry ID/license to operate a vehicle. People (including I'm sure some cops) think you do but you only have to possess the license and present it to the cops if asked. Presenting can include going home to re

Passport works. You don't need real ID. Its only purpose is to deal with states where the normal driver license issuing process isn't up to whatever standards the feds dictate.

Fun fact: for internal flights in New Zealand you don't need (and aren't asked for) ID. There is security but pretty lightweight. No shoes, laptops, belts, liquids, scanner crap.

Pre 9/11 you could go through (useless) security without a ticket but longer ago there wasn't even security. And in some places the "gate" was...a gate. In a fence. So being at the gate meant walking from the street up t

You can do this manually, obviously. The key is the starting point. The design of thermonuclear weapons is always a good place to begin.

The hosting aspect is only necessary because a) piracy and b) Google would eat their lunch if they were the gate keeper to content. Bit like how Ticketmaster takes all the money from artists because they get to say who sits in a seat.

This isn't universal. The schools in our Montana town have pickup lanes and short term parking areas for pickup. Stopping on the road isn't allowed.

In the US, saying that "your job has been eliminated" mitigates various legal risks (discrimination lawsuits for example). So although companies can do pretty much WTF they want, they also don't like being sued.

Having no moral compass is a feature not a bug. There's supposed to be a government generally maintaining the population's long term interests as a balancing force. The USA lacks that. The capitalists got the root password.
